I'm Back!

Posted 08-23-2009 at 01:47 AM by color0
Well, although the Kyosho Autoscale Database is not done -- that will take a long time to compile -- I'm officially back, done with most of my other summer commitments, and ready to blog and race again!

And to keep things fresh, I've built a new 90mm-class Mini-Z MR015 for fun; much as Reflex Racing will be walking us through building the perfect race MR02, I'll go through building a fun 90mm-class (aka Mini class) racer on a budget, something that's pretty important in our current...

Short hiatus from this blog.

Posted 05-05-2009 at 10:02 PM by color0
So recently I've undertaken a project (along with a few other Mini-Z Racers) to compile a database of Mini-Z data for future use. Now, there are a LOT of Mini-Z's in existence, so this will take up a lot of time and we probably won't be done until the end of June. Hence I'll be needing a bit of a break from this blog.

Look out for some traces of our work on the Mini-ZRacer.com forums soon!

Be back before you know it,
Brian

Transmitters (Radios) Explained, Pt. 2

Updated 03-08-2011 at 09:35 AM by color0
Ok, so you have your transmitter/radio in your hand, have turned on the radio and the car (remember, radio first and then the car!) and want to use your radio to get the most out of your car setup on the track. What to do? This week I'll go in depth on transmitter adjustments and what you can, can't, should and shouldn't do with them.

Let's go feature by feature, from low-end to high-end.

Steering Trim: As I mentioned last week this is the single most crucial adjustment...

Transmitters (aka Radios) Explained, Pt. 1

Posted 04-20-2009 at 05:40 AM by color0
Updated 03-08-2011 at 09:35 AM by color0
As most readers of this blog will know, there are many raido transmitters (also known as "radios") in existence that can control an RC car, and not all of them are made equal. The stock Mini-Z's radio, for example, is on the opposite side of the universe from a high-end one like the KO Propo EX-1 UR. But its actually respectable for what it has to do: it's not fast, but it's not horribly glitchy, and it offers enough features to get your average customer started (and hooked) on the cars....

Wheels: A Short Discussion.

Posted 04-09-2009 at 12:01 AM by color0

So with the Mini-Z market having become as mature as it is, there are quite a few ways to deck out your Mini-Z, one of the most popular being wheels -- or rims, as I usually call them. There is a LOT of selection out there, not just in styles, but also materials, widths, and offsets (the additional track width that they will give your chassis). So this week I thought I'd go over the choices you have and their pros and cons, and the applications for the different kinds of rims on the market. ...
