Ok so i'm pretty sure i want an Overland but I know the Street racer is a little cheaper. I have a large collection of tomy bits and the likes and have decided i want to go a little bigger. Now I don't know what to do The semi offroad capabilities of the overland appeal to me Plus i've always liked trucks better than cars. now should i buy a street racer first to get used to the maintenance and driving of a mini Z or would it be smarter to just go for the overland in the first place as money IS an object...

or does anyone else know of any other 4wd trucks on a similar scale with similar capabilities ? but cheaper.. lol

Let me know.

if you like trucks better, than go with the overland as it handles nothing like a racer. i love my racer for running in the street or concrete floors but my overlanad rules my house! there are almost as many cool things you can do to as well. i've been working on my ultimate light set for my overland. i've done some more custom work too, pictures in my album.

i think you should get a mini-x set instead .. some one sells them RTR on ebay every once in a while for $110 free shipping

A few questions:
1) Can the Mini X fit miniz bodies
2) Does the OL handle as well as the miniz racer
3)which is best of the three...OL, MZ or MX

1. don't know anything about the mini x
2. since the overland is a truck...no. racers were ment for racing, overlands were ment for everything else the racers can't do, such as go offroad. you can lower them for racing and some do...
3. i only have a racer and overland so my answer is biased toward them...i like them both! they are great at what they do.

Can i run the racer off-road, i guess not, but say i wanted too... how could i stop the dust from getting inside?

yes, if you really wanted too. the problem is the racer has really low ground clearance...you can get around this too with some modding like this (http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN2/84/4A/ED/i844AEDCF-2A37-493A-83D1-43D14CAAF031.jpg) . this is just a 1:24 aoshima body and tsl super swamper tires on a racer with square inch up wheels (not mine). the suspension travel for the racer is nowhere near the same as the overland, so the rcaer will likley get stuck easily on uneven terrain.

i wouldn't worry about dust too much. the main concern is small pebbles and such mangling the pinion and spur gear.

if you want to go offroad...get the overland. you'll be much happier with it. you can always mod it for racing as well. if you want to race...get the racer and get some tires like in the picture above for very mild offroading.

That is too much i was thinking more rally car off road, can i put OL suspension onto the racer? Will this reduce the handling?

I will obviously have to switch back for tarmac racing

I want to buy this for my first Z
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=144_21_64&products_id=2534

but there is an area with clay-like dust that i like, that is what concerns me.

OL suspension?
Will it trouble handling?

:) i tend to wander off jus getting back to the point ^

the overland and racer chassis's are completely different, so no, you can't use the overland suspension.

there any any number of aftermarket wheels that will give a racer slightly more ground clearance and traction...see me (http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN2/AF/E2/A3/iAFE2A379-4D67-48E5-BE62-4D2E728578DD.jpg) , the same person also used lego tires...

the use of larger tires will require body modding though. what has been done and looks good is modding 1:24 05 1:25 rally bodies onto the overland. look through here (http://mini-zracer.com/gallery/brinsley) .

that is a nice choice! the imprezza is sweat looking! what it comes down to is, you can take your imprezza off pavement so long as it is very flat and hard packed, which clay usually is. there are some mini z scale agrressively treaded tires that don't require any body mods but you'll have to hunt them down. the stock slicks will suck offroad. gpm makes some treaded tires... it sounds like your sold on the racer...you'll like it! i love mine, i have the cr5 body and it is sweat!

aight, how about this?

lower the overlander a little, maybe different wheels/tires and use the subaru body mentioned earlier? (man, i would wet my pants with glee!)
