I just got a zip zap and was amazed how fast these little cars can kill batteries. I modded my controller so that I can hook it up to a DC power source and charge the zip zap then hook 2 wires up and control it from the batteries.
In theory this should allow the batteries to work for weeks.

If anyone is interested post here so I know I'm not writing a tutorial for no one.

well anyway, i took the charger platform out and rigged it up to an external DC psu and i charge it until it drops till 20ma (from 40) it works great. If you dont have an external DC PSU you can use an old computer powersupply (or the one you are using) and some resistors to put the voltage down from 12v, 5v, or 3.3v
You could also use some D batteries to charge it (since AAA, AA, C and D use the same voltage [only difference is how long they last])

I wish there were more zip zap modders. I would like to have lots of mods but the lack of other modders and wannabe modders makes me a sad panda
