are you sure you have the right polarity for the led? it only works one way.

im pretty sure you could hook the led up to the car battery, my cousin bought a bit clone a zcharger it has a led in it that hooks up to the main battery.

The longer lead on the LED is always positive, the shorter one is always negative, and you may need a current limiting resistor to keep the current in the 10-20 MA range, otherwise you will fry the LED.

I read this in my American Science and Surplus catalog last night, as a matter of fact. Their stuff is online as well:

note: you bought the WATCH battery!

get a 3V Lithium! i've purchased the smallest $2.79 and $2.99 LiIons off that rack at Rat Shack and they work fine - no resistor needed...

make sure the LED you purchase is 2-3V (2.8?) and you'll be fine... you can run two or more off one battery...

i prefer the T1 size (3mm)... prices for blue and white T1s are, IMHO, simply outrageous, so screw jameco and the other manufacturers... i'll stick with $0.19 red, yellow or greens...
