I just installed a stage two roadrace engine. When I took apart the drivetrain I noticed a yellow plastic piece (like the ones on the axles) floating around. I can't figure out where it goes. I continued installing and it runs. But I've noticed that it sounds rough. I'm afraid that this little piece got knocked out of place during installment, and is tearing up the insides.

I believe the piece you're referring to is the driveshaft's bearing and/or bearing carrier. The bearing metal or plastic fits into the yellow holder that's shaped like this: :-O-: and the driveshaft goes through the bearing. There's two screw-holes on the bottom of the car to hold the bearing carrier in place. I didn't put that part back together right the first time I took my car apart too.

yeah that's where I thought it went but it comes out everytime I run it, so unless it's hurting anything, I think I'll let it be. (putting it back together took a while lol):D

It may cause excess vibration on your drive shaft and/or may make it pop out of alignment with the gear that it meshes with. The car will stop running and you'll hear the motor spin but no go, then you'll be even angrier. I'd suggest putting it back on.

Or worse, the driveshaft could contact the electronics, frying them...

how can I make sure that this won't be the case?

Make sure the bushings(or better yet, bearings) are in place and it won't happen.

When in doubt use electrical tape. Hehe. You can cover the PCB where the shaft is with it as a precaution. Oh don't cover the shaft itself with tape. (just a reminder)

so it won't hurt to tape the electronics?

Today, I also had a piece of plastic break.

I don't know what it is either. The car runs the same.

My piece was a part of the motor mount that holds the wires.

No worries until you break the part that holds the motor itself. Not sure if there is a part number from Celluar Shack. Will post if there is one. Checking CJ's post 1st.
