Made a pretty decent spray booth today so I thought i'd take some pics to give others ideas. The biggest problem is dealing with hanging the parts. I tried just hanging the parts from the wire but they just fell off when i tested the airbrush strength against them. This way allows the pieces to stay in place. I'll be painting tomorrow night so I can run the car tomorrow. Expect to see a color on this one that I have not seen done around here yet!

nice box there. when i used to do 1/64 cars i used to just take those trifold display bords, prop it up, and put some newspaper on the floor lol. i got my airbrush at a LHS, in a testors starter kit.

Dixie Art (http://www.dixieart.com)
I have the Iwata Eclipse HP-BCS brush and the Iwata Sprint Jet compressor. Very nice combo for an affordable excellent quality setup. You may want to opt for the Smart Jet compressor because I wish I could use a higher psi to see the difference. I've also heard of good things about the medea shark, badger, and paasche airbrush products. I've always read however that Iwata is considered the "best" among airbrush pros so that's what I picked.

And no, the body will not be orange......you'll just have to wait. I also am doing a little something "special" with an LED setup.

Fitting a Mini-Z Subaru '01 WRC and the GC8 WRX (older body style) body will be the next mods.

Nice setup you've got there. I have been putting off getting another airbrush, but with my new toy coming and many clear bodoes I will be wanting to custom paint, I may have to break down and get one. This will be a good idea to follow for a booth.

Nice work!

u should paint ur bodies in one piece... ull save urself ALOT of trouble... and ur quality will be a lil nicer... also u should have a single wire taped 2 the inside of ur body and allow the body to rotate on it... thats how pro booths are setup

i would tend to disagree with that. that would mean that paint would fill in between the interchangable sections and that would just lead to problems when changing kits.

The painting was delayed for racing purposes. I'll start masking and hopefully get to the first coat tomorrow night.

Yah definitely dont paint it in one piece. I bought a $20 airbrush kit out at walmart. It works pretty good, a lot better than spray paint anywho and paint is cheap($1/bottle). Definitely the way to go...

i just got a airbrush from michles. it is the basic kit for $26. i got it for 13 because of a cupon. i have looked at the airbrush kits from walmart and this is alot better qulity. but if you want good quility you have to get one of those $136 ones they have(coupon would work great for that!!:D) i have not painted yet and i was wondering do you just use testors enamle that is thined down 1:1??

For an update, the paint is done, it took 3 coats and now the hood has a flaw so i will have to sand/repaint that. The gloss lacquer coats will be going on tomorrow. The color turned out really good. Anyways enough teasing. I will definitely have it all finished lights, rims, and body by the end of next week if not sooner.

yeah i also have the testors airbrush kit that uses the aerosol propellant for air.....it's pretty much a complete waste of money. you're really better off getting some tamiya spray cans.

aero528, does the airbrush you got use an air compressor or the aerosol stuff?

i'm going to assume you're talking about my airbrush and the dixieart site. If not I don't have a link to the testors or whatever brush the other person purchased.

The HP-BCS Pictured here is the brush i got:http://www.dixieart.com/Eclipse.html

The compressor i got is the Sprint Jet one pictured here: http://www.dixieart.com/Iwata_Studio_Series_Compressors_Main.html

like i said before, if i was going to buy a compressor again I would go ahead and buy the smart jet because for the relatively small cost it's worth it.

hope that helps

no it is not that expansive! it uses somthing called Propel. i have a couple extra cans around the house. the aircompressor costs around $200 and you can add it to any of their airbrushes.

sorry i cant find a link for the airbrush, but i would recomend getting the michels one instead of the testers one(just my opion)

yeah i really wouldn't doubt that it's better than the testors. the testors one is plastic and just plain crappy. Their "Aztec" line is what is a step up kind of intermediate airbrush products. I've heard decent things.

PearlJamJunkie is my aim name, talk to me there if you have more questions

Update:
I started the clear coat and since i had been up for like 2 days i forgot to put the thinner in with the lacquer....DOH! So I'm stripping some of the parts and repainting them. I ran out of the paint as well so i just ordered it and more clear finish.......ARG!
