donut
10-09-2002, 12:06 PM
Hi Henry,

Yup, it's 1/24 out of the box...put a Mini-Z body on it then I guess it becomes 1/28 :D .

How fast? Well, pretty fast the way I have it set up. It can go even faster with a better motor and more batteries.

10-09-2002, 09:32 PM
hmm.. i dont really get u sorry, but is the hpi micro rs4 rtr good? cuz im gonna get it with a orion motor and a rx-7 body on it :D . so is it good? and do they last long and how fast r they?

usagi
10-09-2002, 09:59 PM
For the money no. You will land up spend more money on the hpi micro rs4 then then say tripmate mid24. I own both and If I knew now what I knen say 1 year+ ago I who have never bought the micro rs4.

henry
10-09-2002, 11:52 PM
hmm... wat u think about the yokomo gt4 rtr veilside rx-7? and how much is the rs4 micro rtr?

usagi
10-10-2002, 02:31 AM
The 1/10 gas yokomo? Or the 1/27 scale?
The RTR micro rs is around 15,000 yen or $130.00.

henry
10-10-2002, 02:53 AM
the 1/10 gas yokomo veilside rx-7. it cost like 350$ 100$ more then micro rs4 i think. is the yokomo beter then hpi?

usagi
10-10-2002, 03:00 AM
I have my person thoughts about HPI. I don`t like them.....Yokomo on the other hand is a straight forward company that repepects their buyers of their products.

I got mini-z and micro. I am getting M-24 MID next week. See the attached for my micro PTG M3 GTR. I love the performance of micro. It is very impressive coupling with all-wheel drive system. I got my fully loaded with all goodies. I put Peak Performance Turbo Coreless modified motor with 7.2v NiMH battery pack. It lasts 45min+. The draw back is it costs a lot more than other mini size R/Cs. :( But it is worth the price. I get M-24 MID because it allows me to customize my electronics as micro but it still retains the size of mini-z. If you intend to get a micro, I would sugguest you to get a micro model kit, Novak Spy ESC or LRP Quantum Micro Reverse ESC, HiTec HS-85MG mini servo, HPI dual link tie rod set for mini servo, KO Propo EX-1 Mars R FM system or any FM pistol radio with micro recevier you can afford. There are many hop-ups for micro in which I would get HPI ball diff set, HPI front steel dogbones, Team Orion 7.2v NiMH battery pack and Team Orion Elite Coreless Modified Motor to start with. Then, you can add more options such as chassis, front 1-way, alum parts and so on....:D Otherwise, RTR kit is good if you just want to plug N play purpose.

gj urq345, i was wondering if i buy a hpi micro rs4 rtr and it comes wit a skyline bodie which is 150mm and i want a rx-7 body which is 140mm, would it fit the rtr? and if i buy an orion elith motor 4 my rtr, would it work? or u also need more parts ?

urq435
10-19-2002, 03:52 PM
Thanks guys. Yes. It works but you have to buy 140mm belt to replace your 150mm belt. It will be easy to exchange the belt. On the other hand, I assume you were talking about Elite Coreless Modified Motor since there is Eilte stock motor as well. You should also get 6-7.2v 1100 mAh NiMH battery pack. RTR will be fine along with NiMH battery pack I just mentioned. :)

henry
10-19-2002, 04:28 PM
so,where can i get this 140mm belt and how much? and the mdified motor dont worj without that baterie?

urq435
10-19-2002, 05:55 PM
HPI 140mm belt costs around $5-8 any hobby store. Regarding battery issue, if you want to get the maximum performance out of the motor, you should get Team Orion 7.2v 1100mAh NiMH pack, $35-38, along with 9T steel pinion gear, $3-4. Otherwise, it works okay with RTR kit. But I strongly suggest you to get HPI 9T steel pinion gear regardless of battery. In my opinion, I would get the micro kit separately as I mentioned previously. So that I can customize my micro with the finest electronics that I want. :D The following is the list and price range:

1. micro kit - $80-110 depend upon body (RX-7 costs around high end):D
2. Novak Spy ESC - $56-60
3. Airtronics FM MX-3 radio set - $105
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXCHA8**&P=7 (http://)
4. HPI 9T steel pinion gear - $4

Total cost ~ $260,which costs less than RTR kit but better electronics.

You can get everything on towerhobbies.com

Hope it helps. :):)

By the way, the price difference, $30-40, can sponser you to get Team Orion 7.2v NiMH battery pack. :D or HPI rear ball diff set. You might also want to get HPI front steel univeral dogbones as well. :)

thx urq, but i dont know how 2 install these strange parts:( . sorry,im not 1 of thoses rc guyz that upgrade their rc and make it fast. and anywayz im poor, and hopefully i will get the micro n cristmas:D . so, u recomend me 2 buy the kit? i got several quetions:
1.is there a rx-7 kit wit a unpainted body?
2.dose your list include the orion elithmotor and all the thingz u recomend?
3.how much would a complete micro kit with the orion motor pinion gears and baterie cost?

urq435
10-19-2002, 09:11 PM
Hi Henry,

I understand your concern. In your case, I think you should stay with the RTR kit then. :) But I will address your questions accordingly as well.

1. Yes. All micro kit comes with Lexan unpainted body except RTR kit.
2. NO. It does not include Elite modified motor, $45-55.
3. A complete micro kit on my list plus modified motor, battery pack costs around $340-350. But you have to get NiMH brian 959 charger, $45, for battery pack if you have no NiMH charger on your own.

henry
10-19-2002, 09:29 PM
wow 1lmost 400$!,u could buy a upgraded all the way 1/10 scale ntro car wit that.how much u think it will cost 4 a rtr kit wit the motor and the pinion gwar wit the rx-7 body and 140mm belt?

urq435
10-19-2002, 10:08 PM
Yeah. Micro is not cheap at all. You should expect to pay the same. Here is the break down:

1. RTR kit 150mm body - $280-300
2. Elite modified motor - $45-55
3. HPI 9T steel pinion - $3-4
4. HPI 140mm belt - $5-8
5. Rx-7 body set - $14-16

Thus, the grand total around $370.

I would buy my list items instead. :D

Better electronics, custom body

Here is my NSX.

henry
10-19-2002, 10:21 PM
wow, nice muffler, dose it come with the body? and dose it help the performance? and if u buy it seperaitely how much is it? and the rtr kits dont cost 300$, it cost only 200$.

urq435
10-19-2002, 10:27 PM
You are right. It costs around $200. I got confused. The muffler won't improve performance but improve its appearance. :D The kit is called HPI Concours Accessary kit, $10-12, including alloy disc rotors, side mirrors as well as single muffler. I got two for my nsx. :)

Sorry Usagi san,

I just got my Kawada M-24 MID hop-ups this evening. I still haven't got my M-24 MID kit yet. :( Anyway, I just answer Henry question once for all. :) Hope you are okay with it.

Henry,

Yes, it will fit Rx-7. I got it from towerhobbies.com and you can check it on hpiracing.com under micro section. It contains a lot of Rx-7 photos. :D If you have a further questions, feel free to drop me an e-mail: urq435@hotmail.com

In addition, thanks for Donut's e-mail regarding M-24 MID hop-ups info. :)

What a nightmare! Gladd dats over whid! I don't remember what this thread was even about!
I've heard the M-24 can use many Mini-Z parts...
Could someone list them?

Differential,
Wheels + Tires,
Body (I have a CLK),
What else is there?

Billiam_Returns
10-30-2002, 09:40 PM
And while I'm here, and this thread seems to have fallen apart, what are the measurements of all the bearings in the bearing set?

donut
10-30-2002, 09:57 PM
The Mini-Z parts I use on my Mid are:

Bearings
Wheels
Ball Diff (made my own suspension plate to keep wheels aligned)
Bodies
Front axles
On/Off microswitch

other parts you could use:

Mini-Z motor mount
Electronics

Billiam_Returns
10-31-2002, 12:28 PM
When you say you made your own suspension plate to keep the wheels aligned, does that mean the Mini-Z Diffs aren't a perfect fit?
